One Woman Show by Michelle Zahner ‘A Modern Guide to Heroism and Sidekickery’

Before she disappears off to Australia, Michelle is previewing her very first solo show in London, one night only, in a barn in Waterloo. There’ll be warm drinks, there’ll be a bar, bring your own blanket and get ready for a story…

Everyone knows how superhero stories work.

Save day, rescue damsel, witty one-liner, post-credits scene. But Michelle Zahner doesn’t want to do that. She wants to ask the real questions: Why are there never pockets in lycra costumes? How do heroes make rent? What if there’s no villain? And why don’t we have a word for a male damsel?

For this mission, she’s combining storytelling, poetry, comedy and physical theatre. With an accidental superhero, a lost journalist and a girl who doesn’t need saving she explores what we expect from heroes, and what might happen if we get it.
