Volunteering for organisations

There’s lots of work to do on a farm and we really appreciate the support of groups from businesses. Escaping the office and spending a day on the farm is a refreshing experience and a great way for teams to spend time together, contributing to a charitable project. We offer a range of corporate volunteer projects to suit various group sizes and budgets.

What does a Team Volunteering day look like?

The day begins with a farm tour, giving you an overview of our project and the work we do. After a refreshment, we usually split into groups to take on tasks. For example, making signs, preparing beds, sowing seeds, weeding and site maintenance. We take regular breaks and ensure there is variety in the work to suit different abilities.

We have a basic community kitchen on site that can be used to make lunch. This can work as a team activity with facilitation from our farm manager. Alternatively groups can bring a pack lunch or order take-away. In the afternoon, the jobs will usually rotate around, so everyone gets an opportunity to work on different projects.

“Sally was fantastic and extremely appreciative of our efforts; the project is a hugely worthwhile cause, not only for the community it serves but also for the environment given this is all built on derelict land. There is so much still to achieve there – all outdoors-based – we were kept very busy clearing ground, moving wooden troughs, planting up containers, transferring seedlings and tidying outside storage.”

How many people can come?

We can accommodate groups of up to 15 volunteers for a half day of volunteering or 10 for a full day. We keep the number small to ensure that everyone can have a hands-on, fulfilling experience helping with genuine farm tasks!

Is there a cost?

A day experience is £500 for up to 5 hours on the farm including a lunchbreak. The fee helps cover staff time, project materials and contributes towards the therapeutic work that we undertake with children on the farm. A half-day experience is £350 for up to 2.5 hours.

From September 1, 2024 we will be increasing our fees to £450 for a half-day and £750 for a full day. This recognises the demand for volunteering on the farm, and the fact we haven’t altered our fees in a number of years.

Groups are welcome to use part of the day for their own purposes – team building exercises, meetings or presentations. We have a beautiful, award-winning  barn for such purposes (includes AV facilities) and other break-out spaces available.
